After we spent a wonderful weekend with Gabi and Felix in Melbourne, it was our turn to show Sydney from its best side. The first trip was to show Gabi one of our favourite places here in Sydney: Kangaroo Valley, or “Sanity Retreat” as we like to call it.

We had some of the coldest days here in the last couple of weeks, and as a result of this “Antarctic Vortex”, the Southern highlands got some snow. Enough so that people could build little snow men, which meant that when we got there, there was still some snow left. After an excellent Christmas in July dinner at the One 46 restaurant, our local favourite, we spent the night at the Bendeela Camping. Surprisingly (not), it was much less crowded than over New Years. In fact, there was only one other tent on the whole campgrounds. The night in our car was surprisingly warm. Some say it was warmer than in our apartment, which raises a question or two regarding house insulation…

We visited lots of waterfalls, saw a male lyrebird, lots of wombats and kangaroos, and lots of other cool things. But see for yourself…
