The last stop of our Christmas Roadtrip was our beloved Kangaroo Valley.

01.01 The last stop of our roadtrip is Kangaroo Valley, Simone’s and my “sanity retreat”. Before we started the 2.5 hour drive, we went up Mount Ainslie for another view of Australia’s capital. The rest of the day was quite uneventful. We made a stop at the world’s largest sheep statue. Australia has a thing for having the greatest “X”, which doesn’t seem a bad idea considering how many cars pulled off the highway to go see the sheep, and then visit the huge souvenir shop next to it.

After another brief stop at the Fitzroy Falls (lyrebird territory, no luck today), we went to Bendeela camping, which was surprisingly empty. As promised, Mario got to see some Wombats, and I think it was love at first sight čśë We also saw an Echidna that was about to cross the road in front of us, which was the last animal on our list of cool Aussie animals we wanted to show Mario.
To finish up this great trip, we went kayaking in Kangaroo Valley river. Our regular readership would remember that pretty much exactly a year ago, Simone and I did the same thing. Only this time, there was much less water, and the rapids were rather slow. Nevertheless, it was fun and a good exercise. Mario drove Olive back to Sydney, and we just made it before the announced storms arrived.
